The men resolved to make more generous contributions to this divine project to ensure the completion of work before the dedication date.
CONFERENCE THEME
The conference notes the following concerning the theme You are my witnesses (Act 1:8)).
The fact was stressed that it is only the Lord Jesus that empowers a person to become a child of God. To receive this power, one has to believe and receive the Lord Jesus in repentance and faith (John 1:12-13)..
After empowerment, one becomes a child of God (born again). It is only after this empowerment of the Holy Spirit that one is rightly equipped to witness Christ.
Witnessing is not a duty for the ordained only. The laity should witness in line with our belief in the priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:5,9-10).
The laity are well placed to evangelize as they come in contact with unbelievers through the lanes of life viz, markets, hospitals, offices, etc, and are fluent in their languages
NEED FOR WITNESING
The conference identified five main reasons why a Christian believer should witness as below:
It is a command from God (Matthew 28:19,20).
Many die daily without knowing about Christ while some think their good deeds would save them.
Unsaved members end up in hell fire where the worm dies not and the fire is not quenched.
God is disappointed that many are lost (Mt 9:36-38) and seek intercessors (Ezek 22:30).
There is reward in witnessing (Jn 4:35).
DIOCESAN TRAINING ON EVANGELISM
The conference agreed that for men to imbibe an understanding of the meaning and practical steps in evangelism and Church planting, a two-day workshop would be necessary sometime in 2018. The guest speaker has been designated as the resource person.
CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE AND FAMILY LIFE
The conference notes the following concerning the Christian family:
Christian fathers should jealously guard the Anglican heritage and values in regards to marriages especially regarding the choice of partners for our children and wards.
God is interested in the offspring of our marital unions to ensure that they are godly (Mal. 2:15).
Christian fathers as witnesses should begin in their homes through sound bible based counsels and exemplary lifestyles.
Christian fathers should occupy their God-given position of leadership in the family and through prayers and the word of God; inculcate discipline and morality into their children (Jer.35).
